Webinars
The LNRS team hosted a series of Zoom webinars aimed at a variety of audiences. The purpose of these webinars was to introduce the LNRS to those who may not already be aware of it, explain what nature recovery is and why it is important, and allow attendees to share their views on what they are either already doing to enhance biodiversity or what they would like to see more of.
The webinars are available to view by clicking the links below. Please be aware that each webinar is similar, with minor adjustments for different audiences. We recorded only the presentation and not the subsequent discussions to encourage open participation from attendees. If you have any issues or queries about these webinars, please email Cumbria.LNRS@westmorlandandfurness.gov.uk .

Spatial Planning Workshops
Cumbria Biodiversity Data Centre, the LNRS team and the Spatial Planning Group have been hard at work developing the opportunity maps for the LNRS, which will show ‘Areas that Could Become of Particular Importance for Biodiversity’. The first draft of this opportunity mapping was completed in September and the team hosted a series of workshops to allow attendees to explore this mapping in more detail.
The workshops allowed the team to gather your feedback on the presentation, the accuracy and the functionality of the maps. Each session was identical, however one of the workshops was aimed primarily at land agents, foresters and surveyors.
Overall, the feedback was highly positive with the majority finding the maps easy to navigate, logical and well presented. However, there are areas for improvement, such as adjustments to some of the colours, the visibility of the layers, and future or ongoing projects that may impact the mapping.
CBDC are currently refining the maps based on feedback collected during these sessions. The LNRS team will make the maps available for viewing and testing again during consultations early next year.
